Gap confirms major change to store hours for a day in weeks giving customers less time to shop

GAP has announced a big change to hours that customers need to keep in mind.

For Thanksgiving, many retailers may have reduced hours – or might not even open to begin with.

Luckily Gap customers will have time to shop on the holiday – but the hours won't be normal.

The clothing retailer has its hours listed from 6pm to 1am on Thanksgiving this year on Thursday, November 23.

However, it warned customers under its holiday schedule: "Please note that local stores reserve the right to change hours as they deem necessary."

So make sure you check with your local store.

While it can vary by location, most Gap stores open between 9am and 10am and close anywhere from 7pm to 11pm during normal hours.

REMAINING GAP HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

For the most part, Gap customers can expect their local stores to operate at normal hours for the remainder of 2023.

This includes Christmas Eve, the day after Christmas, and New Year's Eve.

The only exception is Christmas Day – as the store will be closed.

The only other day this year that Gap has had reduced store hours was on Easter.

OTHERS CLOSING FOR THANKSGIVING

But Gap isn't alone in making changes to its operations for Thanksgiving.

TJ Maxx, which operates its namesake brand, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and Homesense, will be closed the entire day on Thanksgiving.

Best Buy has confirmed that it will close for the day on Thanksgiving.

The stores will open back up on Friday morning.

But keep in mind that the electronics retailer will extend its hours starting November 6 as the holidays approach.

In addition, Walmart will close for Thanksgiving this year.

That marks the fourth consecutive year its thousands of stores won't open on the holiday.

But of course, shoppers should know they can still shop online.

So be sure to be on the lookout for any Black Friday specials.

For more on store closures, Starbucks has closed another store.

And a major fast food chain is closing restaurants left and right.
