In 2011 and 2014, he earned the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in the sitcom.

At this time, Burrell has not publicly responded to the death rumors. However, Ariel Winter and Eric Stonestreet cleared up the confusion.
Winter captioned her reunion post: "I can see how this looks but Ty is alive and well I PROMISE😂❤️ He’ll definitely be there for the next one 😉🎉 #modernfamily."
