EARLY last month, Cotswolds resident Peter Maddox's bright yellow Vauxhall Corsa was disgustingly vandalised, with its windows smashed and the word "move" scratched on the bonnet.
The car had long been accused of ruining the view of one of Britain’s most famous streets - Arlington Row, which is on the UK passport’s inside cover.

However, in a massive show of support from Vauxhall, the British auto manufacturer has honoured the 84-year-old by renaming their brilliant shade of paint.
Formerly "Flaming Yellow", future Corsa drivers will now be able to decorate their car's exterior with "Maddox Yellow".
“I was upset when I found that my Vauxhall Corsa had been vandalised just because of the colour," Maddox said in response to Vauxhall's classy gesture.
“I am touched by the support I have received since.
"It’s great to see both Vauxhall Motors and the public supporting me.”

The car maker said their decision to change the name of the paint colour was heavily influenced by the widespread anger towards the yet to be apprehended vandals.

“When we heard Peter’s story we were inspired at the way it captured the heart of the public," Vauxhall’s director of communications, Denis Chick said.
"We wanted to show our support for Peter, which is why we’re renaming our yellow shade to ‘Maddox Yellow’."
Unfortunately, the retired dentist no longer has his yellow Corsa, as the damage inflicted saw it written off.
Using his insurance money, the pensioner was forced to purchase a replacement vehicle.

After initially threatening to replace his bright yellow hatch with a lime green one, Maddox settled on a light grey colour that could certainly not be deemed "ugly" by tourists.
